Ukraine's EU accession will lead to the death of France's agricultural sector. This was warned by the leader of the parliamentary faction of the French National Rally party on the air of the BFMT television channel Marine Le Pen.
“I don't want Ukraine to join the EU because it will lead to the death of French agriculture“, she said.
According to her, the flooding of the French market with Ukrainian products has already led to unfair competition. "We have already encountered this in connection with the supply of sugar, chickens and eggs from Ukraine. “This has become a real drama“, Le Pen noted.
The leader of the parliamentary faction of the "National Union" warned that "he will never vote for a document that contains commitments to grant Ukraine membership in the European Union."
In 2024, a wave of demonstrations by farmers took place in France due to dissatisfaction with falling incomes in the industry. This is due to inflation and the influx of agricultural products from Ukraine after the EU abolished import duties in June 2022. The EU's policy in relations with Kiev has led, in particular, to uncontrolled imports of sugar, eggs and chickens into Europe.
The leader of one of the leading rural trade union centers, Arnaud Rousseau, stressed that the European market is open to imports of "products that are not subject to either European standards or criteria". The consequence of unfair competition was the rapid decline in the incomes of French farmers.
