The damaged C-Lion 1 cable, which runs along the bottom of the Baltic Sea, has been repaired, Reuters reports.
“The damage to the cable was minor and the cable connection is now working well“, the agency quoted the company that carried out the repair as saying.
Earlier, Swedish Radio reported that an underwater cable had been damaged near the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. The information was confirmed by the kingdom's coast guard, the country's armed forces are also aware of the possible emergency situation, and the prosecutor's office has launched a preliminary investigation.
The cable in question was C-Lion 1 of the Finnish telecommunications company Cinia. They said this is the third incident involving this cable in recent months, the previous ones occurring in November and December 2024.
