Mirchev: At the moment, Borisov is looking for ways to show that he is trying to make a regular cabinet

Mirchev: At the moment, Borisov is looking for ways to show that he is trying to make a regular cabinet - 1

“We say something very simple in our declaration : “Delyan Peevski is a socio-political harm to Bulgaria, let us isolate him. The steps for this are first, second and third. Borisov says: “Okay, I will sign for you that I will not form a coalition with him”. My, that Borisov has never allied with Peevski. We want one from Borisov, and he artistically signs a piece of paper and says he will send it by e-mail. It has nothing to do with it. We are not telling Borisov not to form a coalition with Peevski, but to end Peevski in Bulgarian politics”.

Such a comment was made on the air of Darik Radio by the MP from “We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria” Ivaylo Mirchev on the occasion of the relations with GERB, the absentee dialogue on the future management and the conditions that the two parties set before starting negotiations.
To the question of how exactly will happen “the end of Peevski in Bulgarian politics” by signing a piece of paper, Mirchev stated that if Borisov and GERB agree to this proposal, they will very quickly “finish” with Peevski in politics.
"We are starting a procedure for the selection of members of the SJC. They elect an attorney general. This chief prosecutor will not be one who is a function of Peevski like the current Sarafov. Peevski's great power stems from two things - the first is his parliamentary representation. The moment he is isolated in the parliament and does not matter for decision-making, there are some people in some institutions who will draw conclusions. And then its influence disappears. This is the first line. The second line is the chief prosecutor”, said Mirchev.

When asked if it was possible to limit Peevski's influence in the judiciary, after the signing of the declaration on the sanitary cordon, Mirchev answered that it was possible and explained the steps by outlining an easily achievable, idealistic development of events.

In his words, after the election of the new members of the SJC, if a “normal, real” election of a chief prosecutor and to be chosen as such “something like the Bulgarian Kyoveshi”, referring to the European chief prosecutor, and not “like Sarafov” - i.f. the chief prosecutor in our country, Peevski's influence would be eliminated.

And added with clear optimism:

These are the two steps - the moment Peevski is isolated parliamentaryly, the moment he is isolated along with his power over the attorney general, it solves all the other problems almost automatically, because the regulators have also expired and transparent competitions are held there for new people”.

In summary, Mirchev stated:

“And here, within a few months, all these problems - solved”.

He also shed light on their insistence to sign the “not-just-declaration”, providing a sanitary cordon around Peevski. According to PP-DB, the document guarantees the occurrence of certain steps to isolate Peevski.

“We do not want to be on top of this job”, added Mirchev.

He also commented on the GERB-SDS proposal to hold a meeting of the legal teams of the two political forces, being categorical that such a meeting could only take place after a leadership meeting. Mirchev added that Borisov cannot afford to get rid of Delyan Peevski and that is why he is currently looking for ways to show the public that he is trying to form a regular government, but he is not succeeding.
