Dimitar Ganev: Expect a mandate for a government on January 3rd or 6th - 1

„It is possible that a mandate for forming a government will be handed over on January 3rd or 6th”. This was stated by political scientist Dimitar Ganev in the program „The Day Live” on NOVA NEWS in a comment on the events of the past year.

„If an agreement is reached on a cabinet, within the next 5-6 months they will have the task of arranging personnel. All regulators have expired mandates”, said Ganev. According to him, the battle for who will appoint these people is gigantic. “Those who have the power to appoint representatives to certain regulators guarantee themselves power for the next few years”, said Ganev.

“Everyone realizes that nothing better awaits them in the elections in March-April”, said the political scientist.

“In the elections in June this year, PP-DB lost half of its electorate, and GERB received its heaviest “electoral slap” since 2021. This result was the result of the dissatisfaction of the GERB electorate with their presence in the “assembly”, Ganev said.

Regarding the electricity problems, he said that the lack of investments in electricity and water supply are “bombs” that will explode in the coming years.

According to him, President Rumen Radev would support his political project only if there were early parliamentary elections. “But this is a very difficult decision. This is going down on muddy ground, you do not benefit from this protection of the presidency, he was distanced from this struggle”, explained the political scientist.

According to him, the key event in the past 2024 is the return of an old opposition in the country – “status quo/change”. This opposition to Euro-Atlanticism created the government of the “assembly”. This year, this opposition to Euro-Atlanticism gave way and the “cordon sanitaire” appeared, the political scientist explained.
