Vasil Terziev's trust was voted by the people of Sofia. He must guarantee what he promised to all Sofia residents - the fight against overbuilding. We will have a conversation with him and hope that he will give us clear guarantees. From PP-DB we stated that we do not support arch. Bogdana Panayotova. It depends on Terziev whether he will appoint her to the post of chief architect of Sofia”. We expect to see what guarantees he will take on as mayor of Sofia and then we will judge. This was said by PP-DB MP Radoslav Ribarski in the program “Offensive with Lyubo Ognyanov” on NOVA NEWS.
„I was not surprised by the result of the second vote of no confidence. The MRF-DPS had long been giving indications that this coalition did not meet their expectations, namely - that the cordon around Delyan Peevski would be respected. In recent weeks, we have seen more and more evidence that this majority is based on „DPS-New Beginning”, he said.
According to him, the PP-DB has declared from the beginning that they will be a constructive opposition that relies on the laws so that Bulgaria moves closer to Europe. “Let the convergence report be released and we will receive clear indications that Bulgaria will join the eurozone from January 1, 2026”, added Ribarski.
The MP explained that in order to submit an independent vote of no confidence from the PP-DB, they would seek support from all parliamentary groups that declare themselves as opposition.
"The votes needed for a vote of no confidence can be achieved without "Vazrazhdane". We have ruled out "DPS-New Beginning" a long time ago," he said.
The MP pointed out that the PP-DB is not looking for new coalition partners. He stated that the key issues that are important for the coalition are anti-corruption legislation and the sanitary cordon.
The constitutional changes
„The constitutional changes were with the clear goal of achieving independence of the judiciary. Although these changes were voted on with the compromises that we made – we are far from this independence”, he explained.
According to Ribarski, the Bulgarian energy sector is only accumulating liabilities such as the reactors for the „Belene” NPP, the contract with „Botas” and the „Chiren” project. He also pointed out that the contract with „Botas” generates losses every day, the reactors „will sit somewhere and will be paid for every year for their storage”, and „Chiren” is "a terminated project, there is an investigation by the European Commission".
"At the final stage, projects on which the country's energy independence and the diversification of gas supplies depend are at a dead end", he pointed out.
In his words, the "Belene" NPP cannot be developed as a project. "Data centers for artificial intelligence can also be supported by batteries that we had pledged under the PVU", Ribarski also pointed out.
„We are at the final stage of the PVU. The second payment also depends on the investments that can be made. The EC's concerns are that there is no time to complete these investments”, he pointed out.
Ribarski said that the liberalization of the retail market is something that has been postponed over the years, and the PP-DB has no claims that Bulgaria will enter a liberalized market in such a short period of time. but pointed out that wholesale liberalization must happen.
According to him, there should have been an information campaign for the liberalization of the energy market and allocated resources.
Ribarski also commented on the arrival of Donald Trump Jr. in our country. “I don't know why this visit is so eagerly awaited. Apparently Boyko Borisov hopes that the “Magnitsky” sanction will be lifted towards Delyan Peevski”, he added.
"I don't think that anyone from Bulgaria can influence the American administration", Ribarski also said.
„Support for Ukraine is not on the agenda for the ruling majority and for "DPS-New Beginning",”, Ribarski said. He added that the topic has been exploited before.
On the topic of the upcoming presidential elections, Ribarski said that it is too early to talk about this issue. "I think we should focus our efforts on finding a more widely accepted candidate. I am inclined to consider any candidates, even those with less political color, to make sure that we choose the one who will receive maximum support", Ribarski said.
