Pensions for January will be paid at the amount of pensions from the end of last year, and not lower, BNT reported, citing information from government sources. Payment will begin on Tuesday - January 7.
It is still unclear on what basis the money will be paid, since in the absence of a state budget and a state social security budget, pensioners should receive pensions at the amount before the increase from July last year.
At the same time, however, the law on public finances says that all decisions of the National Assembly and the Council of Ministers are also taken into account. Bulgaria currently does not have a working budget. The procedure for its adoption actually begins on January 7, when the first meeting of the budget committee of the parliament takes place.
At this point, most parliamentary parties are against its content. There is also no extension law for the state budget, as one was proposed by the caretaker government on the penultimate day of 2024.
