Supplies of Azerbaijani natural gas to Bulgaria are being resumed - 1

Supplies of Azerbaijani natural gas to Bulgaria are expected to be resumed on January 15. This was stated by „Bulgargaz“.

We recall that supplies of the „blue fuel“ for our country were stopped on January 7 for technical reasons.

The company „British Petroleum“, which is the operator of the „Shah Deniz“ field, announced that a technical fault was detected in the underwater condensate export line between the Shah Deniz Alpha platform (SDA) and the Sangachal terminal.

„For operational reasons, production and export from the SDA platform have been temporarily suspended, and the platform itself has been safely shut down. All personnel on the platform are safe and no environmental impact has been recorded. All offshore facilities, including the SDA platform and the pipeline, are also in a safe condition“, the company said on January 11.

Azerbaijan supplies gas to Bulgaria through the Greece-Bulgaria interconnector. The capacity of the gas pipeline is 3 billion cubic meters per year, with the possibility of increasing it to 5 billion cubic meters.

In addition to Bulgaria, gas has also stopped flowing to neighboring Serbia. The Balkan country receives 1.7 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas per day.
