The Cross of God was erected in the destroyed Roma ghetto in the capital's "Zaharna Fabrika" neighborhood. Residents of the neighborhood share that they welcomed the Resurrection of Christ under the open sky, but with faith in their hearts, reports Bulgaria ON AIR.
We recall that last week the mayor of the "Ilinden" district Emil Branchevski ordered the illegal buildings to be pushed down.
"This cross is made from scrap materials from demolished houses. We are Christians. We were baptized in Orthodox churches. This is a bright holiday. We also have children. And our children were looking forward to Easter to paint eggs, and mothers to knead kozunac, to sit at the table like all normal people. We are all under one sky. God is one for all. We want to integrate and live a normal life. This had to happen so that better things could come", shared a resident.
"We celebrated Easter in tents. The children painted eggs, laughed", added another.
