This year's budget will be changed in accordance with the policies of the new government. This was announced by the former acting Finance Minister Lyudmila Petkova, who will remain in the ministry. According to her, there are two options - to withdraw the budget and submit a new one or to change the one already submitted between the two readings, BNT reported.
Petkova also commented on the increase in salaries in the Ministry of Interior and Defense, explaining that it is not correct that the promised higher salaries are not paid. As early as January, employees in law enforcement agencies will receive more money. Bulgaria's admission to the eurozone remains a main goal for the new minister.
"This is one of the biggest challenges facing our government - namely the stabilization of public finances, what has happened to Bulgaria's public finances over the last 4 years is, to put it mildly, worrying. We see the consequences - a deficit of 18 billion, we have a chance to enter the eurozone, this chance should not be wasted, we will make every effort to ensure that Bulgaria has stable public finances," explained the new Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova.
According to Lyudmila Petkova, Bulgaria has most likely fulfilled the criteria for adopting the euro and by the end of the month the government will be able to request extraordinary convergence reports to prove this and for the country to receive a date for adopting the euro.
