The People's Representative from “We Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria“ Nikolay Denkov stated that the budget for 2025 is not balanced in several respects. “There is an extremely inflated investment program, over 7 billion leva more than last year. It is not clear what the funds are intended for“, he explained.
According to him, incomes must increase, but in a balanced way. “When you bet on raising incomes by over 50% in a certain sector, it obviously creates problems for the budget. All sectors must go together. The problem with the missing money under the Recovery and Sustainability Plan must also be solved. If these things are fixed in the state budget, it will be successful“, Denkov pointed out.
Regarding our country's entry into the eurozone, he recalled that GERB-SDF had stated that they would request a Convergence Report in January. On Friday, however, the formation announced that this would happen in February. “Such a report could have been requested now. If it is constantly postponed, at some point this will become a problem, because its preparation takes 2-3 months“, he said.
“The average level for the eurozone is 2.5%, the request is to be 1.5%, above the lowest 3. This means that 1.5 percent is accepted as a limit that is normal compared to the average. There is also a political element, of course, but last year at the same time, the eurozone countries decided that Bulgaria was ready, with the exception of a technical criterion for inflation. There is a desire for our country to be accepted, as long as it does its job“, he added and noted that the PP-DB will categorically support the policy of entering the eurozone.
Regarding the topic of the requested immunities for members of parliament, Denkov announced that in his opinion a clear political element is visible. He specified that he voted “abstained“. “The sense of justice in the justice system starts from the head of the fish, and not from such momentary votes“, he emphasized.
