Minister Gutsanov: The budget situation will not affect social payments - 1

I ordered the experts at the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy to check what can be done for the households affected by the Bankya incident, so that, if they meet the legal conditions, they will receive support. What depends on our ministry will be done. This was stated by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy and organizational secretary of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, Borislav Gutsanov, in the studio of “The Day Begins with Georgi Lyubenov“.

The difficult situation with the budget will not affect social payments and people will not feel a lack of funds, he was categorical.

“Yes, the situation is difficult, the question is to get out of it“, explained the Minister of Labor and Social Policy.

He added that the calculations show that serious funds are needed for the growth of pensions in 2025, and the other serious increases are for the salaries of the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense - decisions made by the National Assembly.

“These people deserve it. Some have given their lives for Bulgaria, while others protect security“, explained Gutsanov.

He was categorical that there will be no tax increases.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party will not abandon its ideas for social policies, but will act wisely given the situation with state finances. The Minister of Labor and Social Policy explained that for him, the fight against the demographic crisis will be a priority, and this can be done through incentives for young families and gave an example of the left's idea of increasing state support for the birth of a first and second child.

“For next year, I will first propose to the Bulgarian Socialist Party - United Left, and then to our coalition council an idea that I call the “Roof and Four Wheels“ program. It is for young families. A similar step was taken in Hungary. The state should support the first home and the first car of young families who meet certain conditions. "A roof over your head is not a privilege, everyone deserves to live in a normal way," the minister explained.

He also outlined another of his priorities - decent work for people.

“I would like us to emphasize labor when we talk about the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy. There cannot be working poor people. The ministry must become a center of dialogue between the state, unions, and employers“, Gutsanov said.

As an emphasis in his mandate, he placed the development of highly paid labor: “This will be my goal in managing the ministry - to help the economy and labor“.

The organizational secretary of the Bulgarian Socialist Party also commented on his decision to run for party chairman. The day before, he made an official presentation of his candidacy in the presence of President Georgi Parvanov, leading sociologists, political scientists, strong left-wing figures, as well as representatives of the BSP parliamentary group. The event was attended by socialists from all regions of Bulgaria. Gutsanov is betting mainly on unification. “End of internal battles. I even wish that the punishments in the BSP from the 90s would be canceled. This is a strong sign“, he explained.
