I read with amazement and great disappointment the latest bill of “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria“. After yesterday they demanded to reduce the salaries of police officers and threw the regulations at the Speaker of the National Assembly, these people continue to dig to the bottom.
With an addition to the law declaring the communist regime a criminal PP – The DB insist on removing other monuments besides the Monument to the Soviet Army (in their own words - for example, the monument to Alyosha in Plovdiv).
This was published on his Facebook page by the Minister of Social Affairs and candidate for chairman of the BSP Borislav Gutsanov. Here are more of his words:
Not only that - they call the monuments to partisans and anti-fascists, who gave their lives in the fight against the fascist regime, “meaningless remains“.
Really? Do you want to cross out the lives, history, feat of tens, hundreds of thousands, who sacrificed themselves in this fight? Shame and disgrace for you, gentlemen pseudo-democrats. Because democracy is something different. To respect others, to honor self-sacrifice, to see beyond your nose and the pathetic propaganda to which you are a victim.
Tell me, gentlemen democrats, what happened to the Monument to the Soviet Army? Did you repair it, didn't you take it down for that? Has Sofia become more beautiful after your barbaric intervention? Do we live better? Is the space there safer? Or have you lied, deceived again and, at the cost of absolute lawlessness, destroyed and cut up one of the symbols of the victory over fascist Germany? And you know that thanks to the millions of victims given in this struggle, a modern, peaceful and united Europe exists today. That is why Europe Day is on May 9th. Because, unlike you, other nations know, recognize and honor it.
You know, right? That only barbarians have destroyed all the monuments in their path? I hope you know, because you have read the story.
BSP will categorically fight against this law! What's more - I will also fight for the repeal of its controversial texts so far, which give you the right to encroach on our past and memory.
And I will insist and believe that this is the normal thing - to return the Monument to the Soviet Army to its place. As it was, in all its glory. Despite your pathetic attempts to humiliate entire generations of anti-fascists!
