A serious epidemiological situation has developed in Bansko in recent days, when hundreds of residents and tourists have been affected by a seasonal virus. According to information from local doctors, medicines for the treatment of this disease have already been completely exhausted in the pharmacies of the resort town, BNR reported.
In the last three days alone, the Emergency Center in Bansko has been visited by hundreds of patients with similar symptoms - vomiting, diarrhea, high fever and severe fatigue. In more severe cases, emergency teams have also undertaken intravenous infusions of medications.
Stocks of necessary medicines in local pharmacies have run out in just 48 hours due to the huge influx of patients. According to doctors, the festive gatherings on the occasion of Easter have proven to be an ideal environment for the spread of the disease.
Despite the alarming situation, the Regional Health Inspectorate (RHI) is currently categorical that an epidemic situation has not been officially declared. At the moment, there is no data on patients who are hospitalized, but experts warn that the virus is spreading extremely aggressively.
Health authorities advise visitors and residents of Bansko to observe increased hygiene measures, to avoid consuming food and drinks of unclear origin and to seek immediate medical attention at the first symptoms of the disease.
