GERB and the government got themselves into a trap with an 18 billion leva hole in the budget. This was stated in “Speak Now“ on BNT by Martin Dimitrov from PP-DB.
"It is not serious to support something that no one has seen in advance. We will support our reform policies, we have proposed a number of them. That is the Recovery and Sustainability Plan“, commented Martin Dimitrov from PP-DB.
According to Martin Dimitrov, GERB and the government got themselves into a trap with the 18 billion leva. a hole in the budget.
„They talked about it, then they talked about a deficit in January, February and March, and now it has come to a point where they do not dare to publish the data for January 2025, because they talked about a deficit of 400 million leva, and the forecasts present a surplus. When you catch some people saying that some of their numbers are not correct, there are suspicions that everything is not true for them. They are in this situation - we caught that the numbers for January are not correct for them. This is the trap they got themselves into“, said Martin Dimitrov from PP-DB.
He explained that the PP-DB would support the budget in implementing the reforms set. He also indicated what reforms they would insist on in order to support the budget - that public procurement be made by private hospitals; civil servants to start smoothly paying their insurance premiums and others.
Dimitrov explained that they have not yet decided whether to propose candidates for regulators.
“We need working regulators, we have not made a decision on this topic yet“, said Dimitrov.
According to him, it is not a good idea to have a body that controls prices, it is better to have working regulators. An authority to control prices - he does not recommend such actions, but working regulators.
He also commented that small consumers should be stimulated.
According to Martin Dimitrov, Bulgaria is losing billions because anti-corruption legislation is not adopted.
