Bulgaria remains among the countries with high levels of corruption in the public sector. This is shown by the Corruption Perceptions Index for 2024, published on Tuesday by “Transparency International”.
Bulgaria ranks 76th among 180 countries. Only Hungary is below us from the EU - with 41 points. The biggest challenges facing our country are indicated as “the fight against impunity, strengthening institutions and increasing public trust in governance”.
The published data also makes it clear that Denmark again tops the ranking - with 90 points, while countries such as Somalia, Venezuela and Syria remain at the bottom. The index uses data from 13 independent sources, including the World Bank and the World Economic Forum.
