"GERB wants to talk about things that are truly meaningful and valuable for the state, and not to constantly throw ourselves at each other through personalities and look for the mythical figure of Mr. Peevski in everything".
This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Denitsa Sacheva, deputy chairman of the GERB parliamentary group, former deputy minister of labor and social policy, after the parliamentary group of "DPS-Democracy, Rights and Freedoms" announced "categorically disagree with the appointment of Lyudmila Petkova as director of the State Financial Inspection Agency".
"The appointment of Lyudmila Petkova was made by Mrs. Temenuzhka Petkova, who has assessed what kind of team she can use to fulfill the task entrusted to her, and she is extremely responsible - the management of our common money.
Lyudmila Petkova has been working for 25 years in the Ministry of Finance. There are not many people in this department anymore who have many years of expertise and can actually deal with the complex matter of the state budget. Lyudmila Petkova proved that not every expert becomes a politician, but she has indisputable expertise that must be used.
I don't know how she became "Peevski's long arm". Assen Vassilev was also Minister of Finance and he worked with Lyudmila Petkova. And in the plenary hall we have seen how she is consulted.
Temenuzhka Petkova made a personal commitment that the Ministry of Finance will not be used either as a bludgeon or as an attempt to settle scores".
Sacheva commented on the rules for the terms and procedure for proposing management and members of the regulators, which are about to be adopted by the National Assembly.
"They have been developed in the relevant committees for each of the regulators. They include all legal requirements, including those related to the professional and moral qualities of the candidates.
She called for the assessment of a given candidate to be made based on facts, not on posts on social networks.
Sacheva also commented on the PP-DB's accusation that the selection of regulators is being rushed.
"We are talking about high prices, about the fact that regulators must be strong to do their job. Our response is to start replacing regulators now. There are procedures that will involve hearings, inspections. The people who will be selected will go through a plenary session. These are processes that take a month or a month and a half. We don't understand where the rush is?!"
The National Assembly approved the ban on vapes on first reading. The decision prohibits the sale and advertising of products containing narcotic substances, precursors or their analogues. GERB-SDF proposed a draft decision to prepare legislative measures to prohibit the advertising of these products.
"The problem of addiction is one of the biggest and most worrying. We must give a clear signal that what is happening in our country is unacceptable. We must give children and young people the opportunity to live independently".
She explained GERB's attitude towards the boycott of large retail chains, planned in our country for tomorrow - 13.02.
"We are a right-wing party and we believe in the principles of the market economy. Our response to the price problems will be to change the composition of the regulators and strengthen them so that there are strong opportunities for control and regulation of supply chains, of monopolies.
Prices can be determined in a competitive environment, in which the interests of producers, suppliers, and customers are taken into account.
Regulation that is only related to price control can lead to exactly the opposite - to speculation and higher prices.
She also commented on GERB's position on the sale of nuclear reactors from "Belene" to Ukraine.
"We have commitments that we have made. And regardless of the differences that we might have in our Joint Management Board, we will continue to fulfill them.
When we came together to work together, we did not make a commitment to change our philosophy, ideology, or understandings - neither we nor our colleagues from the BSP. We came together to ensure that Bulgaria does not fall into the spiral of early elections again, that documents for membership in the eurozone are submitted, and that regulators are elected.
The presence of the BSP in the coalition will in no way change our commitments regarding Ukraine and the reactors.
The budget will be submitted next week,Sacheva further explained in the program "12+3".
"We are firmly determined that after we submit the budget, a convergence report will be submitted to the EC. The date of January 1, 2026, is the one we are aiming for to enter the eurozone".
