Radev: Justice for workers' rights must be guaranteed - 1

In a time of complex processes of transformation of the labor market, related to digital changes and green policies, it is important to guarantee justice for workers' rights. This was stated by President Rumen Radev at the opening of the national conference of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions, which marked the 35th anniversary of the Confederation's establishment.

In his welcome to the forum, the head of state recalled the turbulent period in which the trade union organization emerged and the principles and timeless universal values laid down by its founders at that time. “That is why the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions withstood the vicissitudes of time and established itself as an important and valuable partner in the socio-economic life of the country“, the president pointed out. Rumen Radev highlighted the high level of expertise built up in the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions in all sectors of the Bulgarian economy, as well as the dedication with which it upholds the rights of workers and fights for nationally significant causes.

The President pointed out that the topics of the national conference of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions related to the transition to a climate-neutral economy, the creation and use of artificial intelligence and its impact on the labor market, innovations, technologies and science are particularly relevant today and reveal a number of challenges for the entire society. “We all want a climate-neutral economy, but the question is the path, speed and manner in which we achieve a clean, green future and that it be done in a way that does not harm the social status of workers and does not lose competitiveness“, said Rumen Radev.

The Head of State called on the leadership of the Confederation of Bulgarian Trade Unions (CITUB) to support the initiative to build a National Center for Aerospace Surveillance, Control and Management, set by our country in the Recovery and Sustainability Plan at the proposal of the presidential institution. Rumen Radev recalled the idea of the project for the Center to regularly receive and promptly process information from unmanned aerial vehicles in space on the quality of air, water, soil, levels of dams and rivers, as well as real-time information on the condition of forests, illegal logging, transport, border crossings, etc. The Head of State emphasized that each ministry would have a representative in this Center through which to request and receive information for the needs of the relevant department. The President expressed regret that despite the project being approved twice by the European Commission, there has been no development of the initiative at the national level to date.
