Mayor Kosta Karanashev announced February 18 and 19 as non-school days for schools in the Kotel municipality due to the worsening winter conditions.
At the moment, the snow cover on the territory of the Kotel municipality reaches 30 cm, and in the area of the village of Yablanovo it is nearly 40 cm, the mayor announced on his Facebook profile.
The order is based on Art. 44, para. 2 of the Law on Local Self-Government and Local Administration, Art. 105, para. 3 of the Preschool and School Education Act and in connection with the deteriorated meteorological and road conditions, Mayor Karanashev points out.
The municipal administration appeals to all residents and guests of the Kotla Balkan to be careful and comply with the meteorological conditions.
There is also serious snow cover in places in the Sliven municipality. There is an accumulation of higher snow drifts in the area of the village of Stara Reka - about 40 cm, and in the villages of Izgrev and Rakovo it is about 50 centimeters, BTA reports. The roads are passable, there are no settlements without electricity and water, the local administration informed earlier today.
Due to the complicated winter situation and the expected low temperatures, by order of Mayor Georgi Georgiev, the next three days - February 19, 20 and 21 have been declared non-school and absentee days in the municipality of Dalgopol, the mayor said, BTA reports.
In addition to schools, the order also applies to kindergartens on the territory of Dalgopol.
"In the last six or seven years, we have not seen such a wonderful snowy picture. For some children, this is the first snow in their lives. Let us remember where the slides and snowball fights were. I wish all students a happy vacation," says Mayor Georgi Georgiev.
