US President Donald Trump has signed 79 presidential decrees in 40 days, which is a record, notes Agence France-Presse, citing its statistics based on data from the US Federal Archives, BTA reports.
That's how many decrees Trump's predecessor - Joe Biden, signed during his four years in power, the agency adds.
27 of the decrees concern tariffs, support for fossil fuels, the creation of a sovereign wealth fund, and the declaration of an energy emergency to stimulate US hydrocarbon production.
14 decrees concern issues related to diversity and gender, including the one that recognizes the existence of only two genders in the US – male and female.
16 orders are dedicated to issues related to immigration and refugee admission programs, as well as to the abolition of the right to citizenship by birth. Several federal judges have blocked the implementation of the order to abolish the right to citizenship by birth. One of the orders also concerns the establishment of English as the official language, which means that federal agencies are no longer required to provide services in languages other than English.
6 orders concern the Federal Administration Efficiency Agency, headed by Elon Musk.
13 orders are about health care, including the withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organization, the suspension of the government website for information on reproductive and sexual rights, or the repeal of Joe Biden's order guaranteeing access to abortion pills. One of the decrees also concerns the return to work of military personnel who have not been vaccinated against COVID.
10 decrees concern technology, including the creation of a National Council for Energy Dominance, aimed at developing energy production for the needs of artificial intelligence in the face of competition from China in this area.
