Ivaylo Mirchev: We are fully ready for the eurozone. We will support all measures that will help with this

There were no so-called robocopies at this protest, nor was there a water cannon, as during the protests against Delyan Peevski in 2013 and against the Borisov 3 cabinet in 2020. They only did not call out the virgin monastery. This is a matter for the Ministry of Interior, Mirchev commented on the clashes in front of the EC building in Sofia on Saturday.

Ivaylo Mirchev: We are fully ready for the eurozone. We will support all measures that will help with this - 1

I hope there will be no change from the government in its support for Ukraine. This support should not fade. Let us thank the brave Ukrainians who are not only protecting themselves, but the whole of Europe. This was said in the show "Face to Face" on bTV by the MP from the PG of "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" Ivaylo Mirchev in connection with the third anniversary of the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, quoted by novini.bg.

Today we mark three years since "To Kiev in Three Days". Nothing like this happened. We appreciate what the Ukrainians are doing for Europe. In recent weeks, it has been very important to have courageous European politicians, because if we bow down now, nothing good will follow. Right now is the time to show true courage by modernizing our army and helping Ukraine in every possible way to stop the Russian aggressor, said Mirchev.

He also commented on the claims that Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone will have a negative impact on our country.

The antidote is persuasion, speaking, and explanatory campaigns. It cannot be said that people are afraid of what "Vazrazhdane" and other politicians are trying to instill in them, but they are using people's fears to manipulate them. We want an explanatory campaign for three months, the MP pointed out.

He noted that the coalition has requested the immunities of the MPs from "Vazrazhdane" who participated in the clashes with the police in front of the European Commission building in Sofia on Saturday. We recall that during the demonstration there were injured police officers, the building was doused with red paint, and its door was set on fire.
This is not how one can act in a parliamentary republic. I personally guarantee Kostadin Kostadinov that he will not be able to stop the work of the parliament, as he threatened. They will not be able to sabotage Bulgaria's entry into the eurozone. I hope that this is the last cry for stopping Bulgaria from joining the eurozone. They will not succeed, Ivaylo Mirchev emphasized.
He also criticized the actions of the police during the protest.

There were no so-called robocopies at this protest, nor was there a water cannon, as during the protests against Delyan Peevski in 2013 and against the "Borisov 3" office in 2020. Only the nunnery was not called. This is a question for the Ministry of Interior. It is not clear why the pogrom of the European Commission building was allowed, but also why the safety of Bulgarian police officers was risked. The Ministry of Interior can very finely adjust the degree of force used. I really hope that this was not an action of someone who secretly controls the Ministry of Interior to cause these riots. The European Commission building was previously covered in red paint, so the necessary measures had to be taken to prevent this from happening again, Mirchev commented.

In response to a question, he explained that "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" will not support the budget at first reading, because a principle in politics is that the opposition should not support this draft law submitted by the ruling party at first reading. But at second reading, if certain right-wing texts find a place, we will support them. We have nothing against salaries in the Ministry of Internal Affairs rising, but reforms are needed for this. We are fully ready for the eurozone and I hope that the government will quickly request a convergence report and that Bulgaria will enter the eurozone from January 1, 2026. We will support all measures that will help this and we will do everything possible to prevent Russian proxies such as "Vazrazhdane" not be able to sabotage this process, the MP from the PG of "Continuing the Change - Democratic Bulgaria" also said.

He specified that the coalition has its own proposals for appointments to the regulators, which he described as "very high-quality candidates".
