Europe should support the US efforts to find a peaceful solution. This was stated by President Rumen Radev on the first day of the Annual Conference of the Chief of Defense, which will continue tomorrow, BTA specified.
Radev said that we are witnessing an unprecedented change in the security environment in the world and in Europe and growing unpredictability.
The head of state pointed out that there is a different assessment of the war in Ukraine and different approaches to regulating this conflict by the US and its European partners.
The debate is brewing about a possible refocusing of the US from the Euro-Atlantic space to the Pacific region, Radev pointed out. He stated once again that he is categorically against sending Bulgarian military personnel to Ukraine.
"There is already a different assessment of the war in Ukraine and different approaches to regulating this conflict - on the one hand by the US, on the other hand by the European partners", President Rumen Radev told journalists.
"What we saw yesterday with the visit of European leaders to Ukraine is the other approach - continuing military actions and seeking through them to bring Ukraine into a position for possible further negotiations", Radev added.
The US insists on a quick regulation of this conflict.
"The entire course of the war, however, so far shows that this is a utopian hope. It will cause many more victims, even more destruction and devastation of Ukraine, which Europe will ultimately have to pay for. And Europe is most interested in participating in the peace process and taking the lead, because it will rebuild in the end, that is absolutely clear. So insisting on seeking a military solution, especially at this point, is a losing proposition. It would be right for Europe to support the US efforts to find a peaceful solution," Rumen Radev urged.
