Interior Minister Daniel Mitov should "not clear the smuggling channels", this is what the co-chair of the PP Kiril Petkov called for on the sidelines of parliament regarding the case with the Ministry of Interior in Plovdiv.
In recent days, enormous tension has risen after the civil association "Boets" distributed photos of chats, which they claim are between part of the leadership of the GDBOP and field officers in Plovdiv. The report claims that on November 19, 2024, the police tried to check a car that was known to them in connection with cigarette smuggling, but they were ordered to immediately withdraw. There is also talk of a possible "umbrella" over the smuggling channel by Kalin Litov, appointed by former Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov. Meanwhile, as of yesterday, Kalin Litov is no longer the deputy director of the General Directorate “Fighting Organized Crime”.
"We need to check whether there are really people who have been removed or rather reassigned, because I personally am tired of hearing that some people are removed and then reassigned in the system and we have a breakthrough in a few days", Petkov pointed out and threatened: "We will not let them get away with it".
The co-chairman of “We continue the change” and MP from the PP-DB PG Kiril Petkov also commented on the topic of "Botash":
"I hear in the last few days that Borisov is whining a lot about the topic, let's remind him that the deal with "Botash", because of which the state is really losing millions at the moment, was signed by "Botash", "Bulgargaz" and "Bulgartransgaz". The head of "Bulgartransgaz" at that moment was precisely Vladimir Malinov. And Malinov was returned as the head of "Bulgartransgaz" after being the acting Minister of Energy, which is against the law. The same person about whom Prime Minister Zhelyazkov just said that he has no problem with being investigated by the European Public Prosecutor's Office on the subject of "Chiren", so when Borisov thinks about these millions every day, I think you should ask what is happening with Mr. Malinov, with whose signature this deal was signed and who is currently being put forward by the European Public Prosecutor's Office as a potential huge corruption scandal, he pointed out.
Petkov stressed that GERB had "hindered the work" of the temporary committee for "Botas" in parliament.
Radoslav Ribarski stated that the temporary committee for establishing all the facts and circumstances surrounding the deal with "Botas" in the 49th National Assembly had been in session for 4 months. "We adopted a report unanimously, but this report did not enter the plenary hall. At that time, the chairman of the temporary committee was Zhecho Stankov, who is currently the Minister of Energy, he used the parliamentary trick of not submitting the report on time, so that it could not be proposed on the agenda," he said, adding that they had repeatedly called on the then Speaker of the Parliament, Rosen Zhelyazkov, to include this item on the agenda. But, in his words, the delay was effective - "within 2 or 3 weeks, and the 49th National Assembly was about to be dissolved for the election campaign. Thanks to the fact that we requested an extraordinary session at that time, the report was eventually submitted and adopted. We fought this battle 1 year ago and at the moment it is still unclear what will happen after this report, what the prosecutor's office has done, and the report was also sent to the European Public Prosecutor's Office, to DANS and BEH“, added Ribarski.
