Bulgaria officially requested extraordinary reports on our adoption of the eurozone. Minister of Finance Temenuzhka Petkova and Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank Dimitar Radev signed today a joint letter requesting the preparation of extraordinary reports on convergence. It was sent to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and to the President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde, the Ministry of Finance and the Bulgarian National Bank announced.
The letter was prepared and sent in implementation of a decision of the National Assembly of July 26, 2024 to accelerate and complete the process of preparing for the adoption of the euro in Bulgaria, in accordance with Art. 140 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, as well as in accordance with Decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria No. 92 of 24 February 2025 requesting the European Commission and the European Central Bank to prepare extraordinary convergence reports for the Republic of Bulgaria.
