The adoption of the euro now, the request for an extraordinary convergence report is not on the agenda for "Morals, Unity, Honor" (MECH), the leader of the party Radostin Vassilev said in parliament, BTA reports. We believe that we will go through a much more dramatic scenario than Croatia, i.e. the adoption of the euro will immediately lead to inflationary pressure on the end consumer, added Vassilev. He specified that this does not mean that they are against the European currency at all, but at this moment Bulgaria is not ready for it.
MECH, as the opposition and as the smallest parliamentary group, will largely oppose the proposed budget, which, in Vassilev's words, is "typically in the style of Temenuzhka Petkova - for corporations, large capital everything is fine, but not for small businesses". Even now they intend to return the threshold of 100 thousand leva for VAT registration, Vassilev also said. Did small companies bother them so much that they will collect VAT from the smallest in Bulgarian business, he asked.
Vassilev noted that all the solutions that the MECH group proposes in favor of the people are not allowed for consideration or are rejected. Such is the case with their idea of nationalizing "Lukoil". He said that tomorrow MECH will submit a draft resolution on the nationalization of the three electricity distribution companies. According to Vassilev, these things are beneficial to the people, “but screaming, shouting, spitting, insults - all this is fashionable in parliament“. When you represent a large part of the Bulgarian people, you have to be at the level that Bulgarian citizens expect, added the MECH leader.
As I said two weeks ago, for me the government is shaking, the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms has problems, they were promised something, it will not be fulfilled, Vassilev said about the government. A new coalition partner of the triple coalition is being sought and “Democratic Bulgaria“ is waiting on standby to be activated to protect us from “bad Kostadinov”, said the MECH leader. According to him, this is a scenario in favor of GERB.
Party MPs Violeta Komitova and Krasimir Manov explained the purpose of two hearings initiated by MECH on Thursday and Friday. Komitova, a former regional minister, said she learned from the media about a "construction permit for lot 4 of the “Hemus“ highway issued by current regional minister Ivan Ivanov. Komitova recalled that in 2021, the Directorate for National Construction Control conducted a drone inspection of lots 4 and 5 and found that there were sections with illegal construction. "If Minister Ivanov has allowed himself to issue a construction permit on a site with illegal construction, I perceive it as an amnesty for illegal construction in Bulgaria", said Violeta Komitova.
Krassimir Manov specified that the hearing of the Minister of Energy on the "KonturGlobal Maritsa East 3" Thermal Power Plant was due to information received that its operation would be suspended and jobs would be lost by the end of the month.
