Final hearing in the case of the death of the two Burgas police officers Yordan Iliev and Atanas Gradev. They were run over by a bus full of migrants, while trying to stop it in the summer of 2022.
Almost 2 and a half years after the tragedy, today the Burgas District Court is expected to pronounce a verdict against the sole defendant – the Syrian driver Omar Adnan.
The investigation proved that he deliberately crashed the bus into the patrol car, despite the defense's claims that an attempt was made to avoid the impact.
Throughout the trial, the Syrian claimed that he was a minor on the day of the accident.
However, a complex examination proved that he was over 18 years old. The most severe punishment that Omar Adnan could receive is life imprisonment.
