The Sofia District Court found Alexander Morfov guilty in the case of insults and defamation, which the director of the National Theater “Ivan Vazov“ Vasil Vassilev filed against him.

The case was filed after Morfov made a statement from the stage of the “Bulgarian Army“ theater when receiving the “Askeer“ award for best director in 2023.

„There is that party-nomenclature insignificant person who is the director of the theater at the moment hiding somewhere“, said the director.

Alexander Morfov was fined 1,000 leva.

However, the court acquitted him for the expression that this person is also "party nomenclature".

Morfov must also pay the costs of the case in the amount of 2,200 leva.

The verdict can be appealed within 15 days before the Sofia City Court, bTV writes.
