The accused in the "Debora" case Georgi Georgiev is demanding 50,000 leva. compensation for the slow progress of the case.
At this stage, a partial claim for 25,500 leva has been filed, said his lawyer Petko Kanev.
The lawyer for the accused Georgiev requested the recusal of the new court panel with the argument that the same panel confirmed the measure of "detention in custody", provided that he is 20 months in custody with a possible sentence of a minimum of 2 years.
This request occurred in the Plovdiv District Court, where the case started anew today, after the previous court panel was replaced due to suspicions that the judge had participated in the protests against violence that broke out across the country after the case was announced.
Debora Mihaylova herself said that the delay in the case did not work well for her, and her defense attorney said that "the mental trauma inflicted on her has lasting consequences" for her.
Three charges have been brought against the defendant Georgi Georgiev – for causing moderate bodily harm, threats and coercion.
