On the occasion of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims, a festive iftar dinner was held in Sofia last night, hosted by President Rumen Radev, BNT reported.
The event was also attended by Vice President Iliana Yotova, representatives of the Muslim and other traditional religious communities in Bulgaria, diplomats and guests from the country's public life. During Ramadan, Muslims observe a strict fast from dawn to sunset. These are days of forgiveness, repentance and mercy.
"In the divided time we live in today, it is increasingly important to be together, to hold on tightly to each other, to help and support each other", said the president.
"We need to find a balance between human values and traditions on the one hand and the modern understanding of the life of young people on the other. It is naive to think that we can stop the changes in life, and it is not necessary. It is enough to explain to people that we are all responsible for the future of the nation and humanity", said Dr. Mustafa Haji - Chief Mufti.
