This March 3rd is different - our armed forces are entering a constructive stage. We hope to increasingly replenish them, to have increasingly modern weapons and to integrate more and more fully into the allied defense. This was stated by the Minister of Defense Atanas Zapryanov. He assured that our armed forces are ready to fulfill their duty, mobilized, responsible, and the defense of the country is ensured.
„March 3rd is a historic date. Bulgaria is gaining its independence, is reviving and we are creating the third state. I want to congratulate all Bulgarians on the national holiday - there is something to be proud of. This holiday is not for nothing. "On Shipka, we pay tribute to those who died in the battles, who maintained the victory and from there won the war and freedom," he added.
As a special feature in the global security environment, Zapryanov highlighted the situation around Ukraine, the Russia-Ukraine negotiations and the contradictory positions of the various participants in the complex process. "I hope that peace will prevail fairly," the minister said.
Zapryanov believes that it is not a bad sign that Bulgaria was not invited to the London Summit. "It is not just us. The point is that a coalition of willing parties is being created. These are political talks," he explained.
