The Sofia City Court decided to place the 32-year-old attacker of the weather forecasters at the Murgash peak station under house arrest.
However, he will not remain in his parents' home, but will be placed in the state psychiatric hospital "Sveti Ivan Rilski" - Novi Iskar.
The magistrates' motives are that at this point there is sufficient evidence for Stoyanov's possible participation in the beating of the weather forecasters, but not whether he can be held criminally liable.
A sanity assessment will be prepared for him in the medical facility.
"I am Stoyan's mother. First of all, I want to express my immense pain and sympathy for the injured Zlatanov family. And to express my immense pain that our son is also a victim. On the way to Sofia, something happened on the way, he was most likely attacked and survived for several days alone, naked, hungry in the mountains, the unfortunate incident in this case saved his life. The police were notified of his disappearance two days before the incident, I want to say here to everyone - the system does not work. In such an incident, when a person with severe mental illness disappears, it is normal for the emergency services, the high-altitude services to be notified, because if these people knew about our case, they would have given him shelter and it would not have come to this point. We were treated abroad before my child came home and the system works wonderfully there, people with mental illnesses receive all the attention of society".
"I personally think that placing him in a psychiatric health center is better for him because there, in addition to the medications he receives, he will also be monitored by specialist doctors who I believe will take the necessary steps to recover", said Todor Todorov, lawyer.
