"What happened in Kochani was a murder and a tragedy. As we were taught during socialism, everyone is guilty and that is exactly right. We are the whole society to blame. But the ministries and politicians are to blame, those before and now."
This opinion was expressed by journalist and lawyer Vladimir Perev on the air of the Bulgarian National Radio.
"There is talk of cruel corruption, we see it, it has taken over the whole society, all segments. This is strange in Kocani for a country and this is not the first time," Perev pointed out.
According to him, the official who allowed the old carpet shop to function as a disco received a bribe of 6,000 euros.
"The first unofficial information, if the investigation is not silenced, is about 6,000 euros. That's how much 59 young lives in RSM are worth. This is from a reliable source from 2 hours ago," the journalist pointed out.
He believes that the protests that have begun in RSM, in Kocani and Skopje, cannot have the scale of the Serbs in Novi Sad and Belgrade.
"We Macedonians and Bulgarians, who are one people, one tribe, live in the shadow of national catastrophes and defeats, occupation. We do not have the heroic spirit that the Serbs and Greeks have – the demonstration about the train accident. This will not happen here. There are demonstrations at the University of Skopje and a protest in Kocani, but it will not be of this scale and this weight. It is about a different national psychology of winners and losers. We are from the latter", argues Vladimir Perev.
He warns that in RSM no one has ever restricted minors from visiting discos:
"The only goal is to take money from parents and buy soft drinks and whiskey. This is the first thing that is evident from the work of all these disco clubs. Let's not forget that in Macedonia in 1994 there was a tragedy with a disco, a 13-year-old girl died in a fire. She was run over by the crowd. There was a fuss and everything ended because the big guys up there are the ones who collect money in cash."
The specialist explained that for 3 months now the government and institutions have been showing hatred and there is no way a country can function like this.
"Macedonia is a country that currently has no more than 2.1 million people and the others are scattered around the world. The rumors that there are 2.7 million inhabitants are rumors of manipulation in the electoral process. There is no one to make a revolution. There are also brakes - the administration is about 180,000 people, they live on the state coffers. Do you expect that these people will stage a demonstration against themselves - this is the most elite part, young, straight and healthy to do nothing."
According to him, in the RSM, with 17,0000 police officers, nothing works, "people die like dogs and run red lights". Perev predicts that there may be protests in some places, but it will not be like in Serbia or the ruling party will shift the discontent to nationalism - Albanians against Macedonians, chauvinism. These beloved words of the communists to blur responsibility.
"Yes, there will be answers from two, four, ten people, but the process for the tragedy in Kocani will not develop further", the journalist is disillusioned with justice.
