There is no option for the post offices to sell anything! This was stated to the Bulgarian National Radio by Plamen Donchev, chairman of the "Messages" federation at the "Podkrepa" trade union, specifying:
"Instead of focusing on where we should be stronger and the activities and efforts should be directed towards better quality services, a larger portfolio, we will sell galoshes, pots and somewhere - food products. All this has negative effects as a final result and is unjustified".
According to him, there is an absolute blackout around the company "Bulgarian Posts" and the reason is that its financial condition is deteriorating every year, the ruin is complete, its market share is decreasing:
"The last 1-2 years the destruction has been complete for the company "Bulgarian Posts". For about 2 years they have been trying to close the specialized enterprise for courier services of "Bulgarian Posts". ... The management has started to hide information about the financial and operational condition in every possible way. And there are observations that the quality of the services provided by "Bulgarian Posts" is collapsing, the number of clients is decreasing, the market share of the company is decreasing. ... I have the feeling that there is a huge umbrella over this company, because its condition is known, and no one is doing anything. The state gives huge funds every year as compensation for the services provided - about 90 million leva, for this year it is expected to be 100 million. leva, and at the same time the company has growing liabilities and low salaries".
At the beginning of 2024, the company's liabilities were about 87 million leva, by July they were already over 167 million leva, he announced and pointed out:
"The company is managed by incompetent people, all of them have no idea about postal activities. ... The conditions in the post offices are very bad, and the level of technological equipment is even worse".
Plamen Donchev pointed out that there is no audibility from the Ministry of Transport and Communications and no reaction, as well as from "Bulgarian Posts" there is no reaction to what is being said about shops in the post offices.
