After a meeting at the Ministry of Health, which was called by the chairman of the "Protection" union; "the most constructive in months", the medics stop protests. "Whether it will be temporary or permanent, the institutions will show the next concrete steps", said union chairman Krasimir Mitov. He announced that he had received assurances that the payment of the above-limit activity will begin as soon as possible, so that negotiations for an increase in hospital salaries can also be launched.
Health Minister Silvi Kirilov outlined several groups of problems that will be solved: Some of them require regulatory changes, others - working groups, and still others - finances. He announced that there will be a new meeting with the union after the holidays to discuss the steps taken.
"Priority topics for the working groups will be violence against medics and stricter punishments for attackers, material resources, and the renovation of ambulances," said Deputy Minister of Health Yavor Penchev. He emphasized that there is a program for ambulances and that solving this problem is already underway. Talks will be held with the Ministry of Finance regarding raising salaries in critical units of the health system, where salaries are at a critical minimum and people cannot be detained, Penchev added.
