In yet another absurdity of Bulgarian reality, carriers in our country pay astronomical tolls for broken roads, while our northern neighbor offers perfect infrastructure at ridiculous prices. This is clear from information from the Bulgarian National Radio.

The difference in tolls between the two countries is so drastic that it borders on mockery of Bulgarian business. Elka Nedkova, manager of a transport company, revealed the shocking numbers to the Bulgarian National Radio: "On the other side of the Danube, regardless of the category of the truck, the fee for 12 months is 1,210 euros with VAT, dividing it into 250 working days and getting 7 leva and 88 stotinki per day, regardless of the tonnage."

For the same period in Bulgaria, a truck over 12 tons must pay 25,000 leva just for the Ruse - Sofia route. Even more scandalous is that the price of 100 leva per day will increase by another 10 leva after September.

"In Romania, for these 7 leva and 88 stotinki, we get ideal roads, where fuel consumption drops, places, rest areas for drivers, which are equipped with toilets – "everything is free, not like our off-ramp, which have been turned into dumpsters and two trucks can't fit together," Nedkova adds bitterly.

Bulgarian carriers have already announced their readiness to protest if the institutions do not review the absurdly high fees.
