Friends and relatives sent 12-year-old Siyana on her last journey. The child died in a serious accident on the road, after a truck crashed into the car in which the girl was traveling with her grandparents on the Pleven-Lukovit section. The child's grandfather is still in critical condition.
The court decided to leave the driver of the truck that swept away their car under permanent arrest. The Minister of Regional Development and Public Works Ivan Ivanov ordered an inspection of the “Road Infrastructure“ Agency and the removal of the entire management of the Specialized Unit “Regional Road Administration - Pleven“ until the results are clarified. The child's death also sparked a wave of public discontent.
Protests are being prepared, "Nova TV" reported.
Siana's father, Nikolay Popov, contacted NOVA four days ago to demand justice, as well as that the roads in the country be repaired so that there will be no more loss of life. Hours before his daughter's funeral, he again expressed his grief through a post on Facebook. And again called for justice. A cause for which he vows to fight tirelessly from now on.
"Today is Siyana's funeral. We are sending her in a closed coffin. They told me that I would go crazy if I saw her, and I need strength to fight on her behalf for this to stop. Siyana must stop this madness. Apparently, this was her mission in this world. To come for a while and do good things, then fly away," the father writes in his emotional post.
He shares that even daily activities are impossible for him today. Because he shared them with his daughter, and she is no longer there. "I can't even do basic things. I can't go to the store, not that I need anything. In front of him is often a beggar, from whom Siyana and I used to buy food. After school, she would sometimes go there alone to buy this man a sandwich, sausage or something else to eat. That's how she was. This memory tears me apart!", recalls Popov.
But her kindnesses don't end there. He also tells how together they fed and took in dozens of homeless animals, took care of them and looked for homes for them.
"I didn't force her! She wanted it! She wanted to help and do good. She was an angel!
She was killed by carelessness, impudence and corruption. The preserved marks of the native state. The fight now begins! My personal cause from now on will be that not a single child dies on the road crushed like Siyana! I will walk, I will dig, I will search so that we can push this hive of criminal chemical holders and someone will do something. Not tomorrow! Today, now and immediately,", the blackened parent vows.
Meanwhile, today residents of settlements in the Pleven region are preparing a protest due to the poor condition of the unfortunate section of the road where the serious accident that killed Siyana occurred - Radomirtsi - Telish, on the main road Sofia - Ruse. Locals are demanding immediate safety of the road section, speed limits with markings, road signs and increased control. The protest and the closure of the main road are scheduled for April 12.
A NOVA inspection of the site of the fatal crash showed that the section where the serious accident occurred is still not safe. There is even a road sign missing. People in the area say that they have filed numerous reports with the RIA. Despite the assurances of the "Road Agency" that there are no defects on the road section and that there is the necessary marking - our team's inspection showed exactly the opposite. Yes, traffic is heavy on the section, but our reporter saw that in places there is no marking, and the pavement is so deformed that ruts have formed - which is just one of the prerequisites for serious accidents.
"This is an extremely busy road. Heavy international traffic passes along it. This is a transit corridor that is absolutely not supposed to pass through populated areas and have two-way traffic. The asphalt is quite compromised in many places. Here and there it is patched, but in many places there are bumps, holes and ruts that were formed by heavy equipment. In addition, there is a lack of marking in many places, which is extremely dangerous when driving in the dark, in the rain. There are also compromised guardrails," explained Iliya Todorov from the Bulgarian Association of Accident Victims.
