A detailed description of the way the capital's garbage is collected follows.
„In order to collect household waste, the Sofia Municipality has signed contracts with several companies. They must follow a strictly defined route, collect the waste and take it to the Waste Treatment Plant, where it is accepted and processed according to very strict rules. We started tracking and found that on the way from their bases to the factory, the trucks very often fail to pick up the containers along the route they are paid to serve," Terziev added.
“They pass by, stop, maybe take a bag or two, but they don't empty the containers. They continue on and arrive at the factory... full. Following the waste's return path - from a full truck to the factory, back along the route from which the containers are not emptied in the neighborhoods, we reached the bases of “Zauba” and “Green Partners”. It is not an unimportant detail that the notorious company “Wolf”, owned by a person systematically associated with corruption at the highest level, is also registered at the address of one of them,“ the mayor of Sofia continues.
He also includes footage showing trucks unloading garbage and then empty ones coming and loading it up.
“In the footage from the video, you see a site from which the garbage trucks have to leave empty in order to fulfill their order. However, it has been turned into a transfer hub - for the transshipment of waste that came from unknown sources, but was loaded, transported and treated at the expense of Sofia residents, while their containers remain full. Schemes for millions and patrons at the highest levels“, he adds.
“From the moment we started this investigation, the waste plant - the only municipal enterprise that did not remain in the hands of the economic majority in the Sofia Municipal Council - has been flooded with inspections - RIEW-Sofia, RIEW-Pazardzhik, RIEW-Pernik - within just a few days“, the mayor of the capital also says.
“In addition to against criminal corruption and for justice, this battle is also for the health and lives of Sofia residents! That is why we will not give up.
