Svilenski: Bulgaria has been governed by Borisov for the last 15 years - 1

„The founding meeting of the party „Unruly Bulgaria“ will be at the end of the month. We have built initiative committees in the country, structures, coordinators in individual municipalities. What we see on the ground, however, in meetings with the people who support us, even those who did not vote for the BSP - is disappointment. Disappointment that there is no longer a left-wing alternative in Bulgaria. Because all 30 left-wing parties are currently in government under the baton of Delyan Peevski“.
This was stated by the MP in several parliaments, today part of „Unruly Bulgaria“ Georgi Svilenski in the show „Delnici“ on "Eurocom" TV. And he added:
"I do not believe that the Bulgarian citizens who voted for BSP-United Left voted for Delyan Peevski or Boyko Borisov to govern them. That is why we say today - there is an alternative to Borisov and Peevski. There are people who are not afraid, do not stoop and can oppose what is happening in our country".
In the conversation about preventing tragedies, such as the one with 12-year-old Siyana, Georgi Svilenski pointed out: "We should not wait for another tragic incident to give rise to a civil protest, in order to take measures only then. From my experience in the transport committee in parliament, I will say that what I have feared and worried about the most is that a tragic incident would not happen, on the basis of which laws would be changed, and reasons would be sought subsequently, which are clear to everyone anyway. There is one reason - responsibility. There is one reason - corruption. This reason has a name, a face," said Svilenski.
He added that he had traveled on the road where the tragedy occurred, the day before from Ruse. "The entire road has been repaired with asphalt that today experts say is not for this type of road, that it is very shiny, that it is very thin. The entire road from Ruse to Pleven has asphalt like this. Now we have to wait for the next truck to turn around so that someone can go 30 km further up and establish the same thing?", reacted Svilenski and added:
"I said back then: Is this a repaired road? The ruts are there, the bumps are there, the markings are gone. Just let those people who are making a mistake go another 30-40 km further up and they will see it in its entirety. You and I, if we go to do repairs, we will do it better“, Georgi Svilenski addressed the host Nikolay Kolev.
In his words, however, the worse and more worrying thing is that according to experts, the one on the road underwent major repairs in 2020.
„Rehabilitation should be done at most every 10 years. That is, 2009-2010, 2015-2020. Let's see now who was prime minister in 2009-2010. Who was in 2015-2020? We cannot hide behind a clerk. This clerk, if you provide him with funding, will do the job. If you do not provide him with funding, he will only move folders from one desk to another and will not get anything done. There must be responsibility. And about the system that we see is not working“, said Georgi Svilenski, emphasizing:
“Bulgaria has been governed by Borisov for the last 15 years. The last two have also been governed by Borisov. Now they are talking about the chairman of the RIA Board - but this chairman was the same one who was during the caretaker governments. During the caretaker governments, the prime minister was called Dimitar Glavchev and was the chairman of the parliament from GERB. So, let the responsibility go where it belongs. Let's not use the tragic incidents for political speculation. But without political decisions and without political responsibility, it cannot be done. In every European country, in such cases, everyone goes. Both ministers and prime ministers and everyone who has responsibility“, Svilenski was categorical.
“I took the liberty of checking the agenda of the Transport Committee in parliament. There are 26 bills waiting to be considered. Because of the incident, there was an extraordinary session yesterday and 6 draft laws under the Road Traffic Act were considered. It's just that these laws have been languishing in the Bulgarian parliament for years. When I was listening to the ministries, I heard: “The opinion we have sent on the draft law is negative, but in view of the situation today, we support it. So, is this how legislation is made? If there had been no accident, the proposed law is bad. But, because there is now an incident, because protests are being prepared for Saturday-Sunday and the government, perhaps, is super worried - it is supported”, commented in response to questions the former chairman of the transport committee in parliament.
“Yesterday, a meeting with the prime minister - 37 measures. But, where is the money for these 37 sections that will be repaired - where is it invested? Just two weeks ago they adopted a budget. No one talked about this section, that money should be allocated. It was there - it did not spring up like a mushroom. The Minister of Regional Development Ivan Ivanov was an MP from Ruse. He traveled along this section daily“, said Georgi Svilenski.
“In a few months the floods will stop. Then we will see the flooded villages. Some politicians will go to the studios again. Some round tables will go again. Some changes in the legislation will go again. After the floods, the fires will come, in August. Then we won't have anything to put out the fires with," Svilenski reacted and asked:
“What's stopping them from sitting at a table and instead of talking heatedly, drawing up a 10-year plan, a strategy, what needs to be done, which roads need to be repaired, which laws need to be changed. But for everyone to sit together, put their corrupt interests aside, because there is a lot of corruption and many interests in these laws. Leave them aside, sign it and then any prime minister, any minister, be he official, regular, extraordinary, whatever, to follow this path“.
In his words, the state is in disarray. “Nobody knows who is doing what. You see, expert assessments are done by civil movements and NGOs. NGOs go to show state institutions that their asphalt is not working, that the patches are of poor quality. This is the state at the moment. And I will say again - there is an alternative. And this alternative is in the hands of every Bulgarian citizen. Brave, honorable and rebellious Bulgarians. This is what the state needs at the moment“, said Georgi Svilenski.
Regarding what the Minister of Agriculture said that 6 new dams will be built in the next 4 years, Svilenski reacted:
“In the last 40 years, one and a half dams have been built. Come on, now tell me how 6 new dams will be built in the next 2-3 years. Enough with these promises. The toll system has been in place for 6 years. There is not a single camera that measures average speed. Now in 2 months they will make all cameras measure average speed. And why didn't you do this before? Will Borisov come out to answer: why when he introduced the toll system and was waiting for 1 billion 6 years ago, 6 years later there are 200 million?“.
Commenting on whether Borisov will run for president or not, Georgi Svilenski pointed out: “Borisov will do what Peevski tells him. If Peevski tells him to jump - he will jump. If he tells him to lie down - he will lie down“. And in response to the question - are they that close, he said: “They are that dependent“.
Asked about the mayor of Silistra, who joined the New Beginning initiative as mayor, promoted by the BSP, Svilenski replied: “The entire BSP leadership went to Delyan Peevski. Let's see who will be next“.
About the BSP vote under the command of GERB: “They may have imposed all kinds of criticism on the BSP during the years when Cornelia Ninova was at the helm: that we are a former communist party, that we are leftists, that we are retrograde. But they never associated us with corruption. During Ninova's presidency, we were the party that fought corruption. We were the moral pillar over the years“, Georgi Svilenski was categorical. And he added:
“When at the BSP congress Zafirov reported the biggest mistake in Ninova's policy, that she was fighting corruption, I was puzzled. Now it was clear – Mr. Angelov and Mrs. Raya Nazaryan ordered the BSP deputies to reverse their vote. They first supported hearing Minister Mitov in connection with the scandal of whether there is an umbrella for cigarette smuggling. After which Angelov forced himself on them, showed them with his thumb to vote against and they changed their position. The BSP deputies do not listen to the chairman Dragomir Stoynev, but listen to Angelov and Nazaryan“, pointed out Svilenski.
And he emphasized again: “Under the chairmanship of Kornelia Ninova, I, as the deputy chairman of the parliamentary group, would never allow this - for another parliamentary group to determine your vote“.
“In five months - one adopted law. One, only law in five months“, said Georgi Svilenski about the work of the 51st parliament and added: “I regret that in this parliament the opposition is divided. Instead of getting together and sweeping everything. If I were the parliament, I would do this all day. To try to unite these people, each with their different views, but all opposition to this government. Although it is necessary to see whether the people and the parties are really opposition or are they imitating opposition“.
“The rulers must go. There is no point in saying that there is stability, because what is stability in? There is stability in corruption, stability in road victims, stability in accidents. Stability in lies. Not in governance“, said Georgi Svilenski in response to a question from the presenter and gave an example:
“There would be a ceiling on price increases, a Law on a Ceiling on Price Increases. Prices continue to rise. Last week - a part of food products rose by 10%. And salaries are not rising. Where is this law? Mr. Peevski cheerfully reported that there would be a price ceiling. There would be a moratorium on electricity prices. There would be income increases. Where are these things? Look at all of Mr. Peevski's statements from January to December and see which of these requests have been fulfilled to date. And I will tell you - not a single one. The only one that has been fulfilled is that he is removing the mayors of the APS, and now also of the BSP“, pointed out Svilenski. And he added in conclusion:
“Restaurant owners and hoteliers are rebelling. Because Peevski promised them, Borisov promised them that VAT would remain 9%. How long will these liars rule the country? That is why I say that there is an alternative. And there should be. This is “Unruly Bulgaria“, said the experienced parliamentarian, today part of “Unruly Bulgaria“.
