The Ministry of Interior will buy unmarked patrol cars to register and effectively control aggressive drivers on the road, announced the Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov.
And 35 billion leva are needed for road repairs in the country.
This was stated by the Regional Minister Ivan Ivanov in the program "Why, Mr. Minister". However, the budget of the ministry for repairs this year is 1.280 billion leva.
Almost 1 billion of them should go to payments for already completed but not yet paid repairs. By August 15, the securing of the 36 road sections declared as critical in the country should be completed.
Half of them need not only securing, but also major repairs. This was explained by the regional minister. He added - the documentation for this is currently being prepared. Before that, however, signs and markings will be placed where necessary.
"Yesterday I gathered the directors of the regional departments. I told them that if they do their job, they will be encouraged. If not - dismissed", Ivanov announced.
The minister specified that money for the repairs will still have to be sought.
"I will ask the Ministry of Finance to show understanding on this topic. "The money is insufficient," he said.
Earlier in the day, a meeting was held between the regional ministry, the road agency and NGOs on measures to improve the roads. Next week, everyone will start inspections together with the aim of identifying short-term and long-term measures.
"The European Center for Transport Policies has experts and equipment that the state does not have - equipment for measuring signs, markings, asphalt roughness", said Todor Batkov.
The police also carry out inspections of the condition of the roads.
"The officers are instructed to be constantly on the road, to make inventories of dangerous sections, to give instructions and to talk to other institutions that are responsible for making the roads safe", said Interior Minister Daniel Mitov.
And in "Face to Face" The Minister of Transport specified that they are already working on introducing stricter measures.
"We are working, within 2 and a half months it will be ready to have sensors in the asphalt for weight when passing quickly. We have had them for 7 years, they have not been used", stated the Minister of Transport Grozdan Karadjov.
A week after ordering an inspection at the road agency, the regional minister specified that weaknesses had been found in the processing and implementation of the signals. That is why he also requested the removal of engineer Daniel Ivanichkov, who has been fired and reappointed several times. He also explained why he did not fire the head of the agency.
"It is easiest for me to dismiss the head of the RIA and the topic would have died down. "I will stop trusting the head of the RIA when he stops fulfilling his duties as such," Ivanov explained.
Minister Ivanov also commented on the construction of the "Hemus" highway. According to him, there was not a single document that would certify the need to stop activities there.
