A terrible scheme to extort roadside assistance after the melee on the Trakia Motorway has come to light - 1

The driver who drove the car in the serious accident on the "Trakia" highway near the village of Lozen is an 18-year-old who lives in Canada. This is clear from a Facebook post by his aunt Rosi Bachvarova.

Two elderly people were seriously injured in the April 29 incident. The man's leg had to be amputated.

In addition to telling about what happened, Bachvarova is alarmed about abuse by a company for removing the crashed car. Her nephew, who is unaware of the procedures in Bulgaria, found himself in an unpicked vineyard after the huge shock of the bloody accident.

Here's what she writes:

"I just got a call that my nephew, who lives in Canada, had an accident this morning on the Trakia highway, before the turnoff for Lozen. His grandfather has an amputated leg, and the companions who traveled to the airport for America are also elderly people, with injuries.

I want to tell you about a man who, in my opinion, is infinitely inhumane and profits from the suffering and ignorance of an 18-year-old child living in Canada and unaware of the laws in the country.

So, the grandfather is taken out in front of his eyes without a leg, bleeding, screaming and total shock for the child, who only calls 112, an ambulance arrives after 25 minutes. The police ask him if there is anyone to call, the child says no, his parents are in Canada, and his aunt, I, live in Burgas.

The grandfather is taken away by ambulance, the child is left alone. The police tell him the car is for scrap and he needs to call a tow truck.

The police give him some number, from where they want 1000 leva to Sofia,

As far as I understand from the scene of the accident, it's about 5 km to Sofia. His child can see a lot and calls a random number from the internet, where they tell him 1.50 per km. When he arrives, I don't know what happened and whether anyone spoke to anyone, but the amount is 960 leva.

The child said it was a lot and the tow truck lowered it to 800 leva. From there, the car is taken to the tow truck and taken to some scrap yard.

They give him 500 leva and tell him we won't give you the numbers, bring us the big ticket and your grandfather's ID card tomorrow, we'll scrap it and write it off. Can someone explain the scheme to me, am I crazy or have people gone completely crazy, how can you act like this?

After that I asked him why he took 800 leva today, he brazenly told me that the car had crashed and that's why he was struggling. The kid told him, by the way, that he wanted an invoice, and he told him, if you want it, it will be 960 because I have to add VAT.

We don't even have a receipt.

I asked why there wasn't one, he was going to let me go, then he called me at the office, so if he pulled one out, it would be let go after 8:40 p.m.

I asked, how come they're writing off the car without a power of attorney and the owner's knowledge, they acted like that and we didn't pay taxes, they're doing us a favor!

A terrible scheme that's probably happened many times.

I called an acquaintance with roadside assistance, and do you know what he told me, the cops have their own people, they have to take 200/300 leva too, but he was very impudent.

So this is tomorrow, I'll file a report where necessary, and you "Beware of impudent crooks who profit from people's misfortune."
