Tensions shook the National Assembly this morning when the leader of MECH Radostin Vassilev occupied the chairman's seat of Natalia Kiselova, after she turned off his microphone during the presentation of the reasons for the second vote of no confidence in the government.
The incident took place before the start of the debates on the vote submitted by MECH, "Vazrazhdane" and "Velichy" on the topic of corruption in government, reports "Dnes Plus".
The conflict escalated when the Speaker of the Parliament Natalia Kiselova repeatedly reminded Vassilev that he was exceeding the allotted time for presentation. Despite the warnings, the MECH leader continued to speak from the podium, at one point issuing a sharp warning to the chairwoman.
"If you interrupt me, you will be a disgrace to the Bulgarian parliament", Vassilev declared from the podium.
"I explicitly warned you - 10 minutes", replied Kiselova, after Vassilev had already spoken for nearly 12 minutes.
After yet another reminder, the chairwoman turned off his microphone, which caused an immediate reaction from the MECH deputies, who gathered in front of the parliamentary podium in protest. This forced Kiselova to announce a 15-minute break in the session.
During the break, Vassilev expressed his indignation on the sidelines, stating that for the first time a mover of a vote of no confidence was not given the opportunity to fully explain his motives. In protest, he took the chairman's seat, refusing to vacate it when Kiselova returned to the hall.
After a brief verbal exchange, Vassilev eventually vacated the chair, but did not fail to make new accusations against the ruling party.
"If you had not interrupted me, I would have told you about Pepi Euro and the Ministry of Interior's unwillingness to investigate. We would also have talked about the madness in the Ministry of Interior - Plovdiv. But you adhere to the principle of being shameful and do not allow the opposition to have a voice in this National Assembly," Vassilev said after the resumption of debates.
In the previously presented reasons, the MECH leader touched on the contract with "Botas", the case surrounding the gas storage facility in Chiren, and did not fail to mention the road to Ruse as an example of corruption in power.
"Starlink" Musk's is cheaper than 60 kilometers of road, which this government wants to build. Three billion for 60 kilometers! ", exclaimed Radostin Vassilev from the podium.
Before the start of the debates, the PP - DB announced that they would not participate in the vote again, as they did in the first vote of no confidence. The submitters, in turn, expect support from the DPS - New Beginning.
