The Sofia mayor appointed Bogdana Panayotova as the new chief architect of Sofia.
She was selected after winning a competition to fill the position.
The announcement from the Municipality states that the mayor assigns the chief architect to prioritize several key tasks for the city's development, including creating a new General Development Plan for Sofia, as well as taking measures to limit and regulate overbuilt territories.
In early April, "We Continue the Change" called on the Sofia mayor to hold a new competition for the capital's chief architect.
"There are serious grounds for terminating the current competition without selecting a chief architect of Sofia. The party believes that it is necessary to hold a new competition, in which additional guarantees for professional integrity and managerial experience of the candidates should be introduced," explained the PP at the time.
The coalition partner in the governance of the capital – "Save Sofia" also objected to Bogdana Panayotova.
