Save Sofia: We are withdrawing confidence from Vasil Terziev VIDEO - 1

"Save Sofia" is withdrawing confidence from the capital's mayor Vasil Terziev.

This was announced by the leader of "Save Sofia" Boris Bonev.

The reason for the withdrawal of confidence from Vasil Terziev is the non-compliance with the signed coalition agreement between PP, DB and "Save Sofia".

Deputy Mayor for Transport Iliyan Pavlov, expelled by the party, has resigned. The municipal councilors of "Save Sofia" are separated into a separate group in the SOS.

There are three main reasons:

  • backtracking on the promise of modernization of Sofia,
  • lack of results and an uninterested mayor who is silent instead of helping us in the fight for a better city.
  • The competition for chief architect finally convinced us that there is no will to change the GERB model and we can no longer lie to Sofia residents or turn a blind eye.

The coalition obviously did not bring the results for Sofia residents for whom we created it. A golden chance was wasted. The citizens gave us a mandate for radical change – against overbuilding, fake renovations, forgotten neighborhoods. But the game is returning to the old hands.

However, we will not allow history to repeat itself. We will not allow GERB to ride the city again – for another twenty years, who will harass and rob Sofia. It is more clear than ever that our capital needs honest, brave and independent people who can make tough decisions, Boris Bonev pointed out.

We will offer this alternative. Sofia deserves people who make tough decisions. Who do not bend. People with courage, integrity and vision.

"Instead of energy and a firm hand that can pound the table and say that Sofia is moving in a certain direction, we see sluggishness, a lack of energy.

Another reason for our actions is the creation of a parallel municipality, composed of people who work in the shadows and make decisions in the Municipality.

"Save Sofia" is unacceptable to continue to be a front for everything that is being done",

Bonev said.

He emphasized that people expected change, but they got a replacement.

According to him, the problem is that many key decisions are made non-transparently, and Vasil Terziev does not keep his election promises.

"Overdevelopment, traffic and dirty air continue to be a problem. We see indifference and lack of energy", Bonev said.

According to him, there is a backstage in the capital's administration.

" A hidden backstage municipality operates in the municipality. People who are not known to society make decisions," the leader of "Save Sofia" pointed out.

Bonev categorically stated that he would no longer participate in the governance of the capital.

"The people wanted change, but they got a replacement. Sofia needs leadership and a clear vision," said Boris Bonev.

BTA recalls that in early April, the chairman of the group of "Continuing Change-Democratic Bulgaria" ("Save Sofia") in the Sofia Municipal Council (SOC), Boris Bonev, announced that very soon the bodies of "Save Sofia" would make a decision on whether to leave the coalition. He recalled that as early as November 2024, from "Save Sofia" have set five markers by which they will assess whether they will remain in the coalition and in what form, as well as whether they will continue to support the mayor of Sofia Vasil Terziev. They are related to the competition for chief architect, with a revision of the management of GERB, etc.

Last week, “Save Sofia“ stated in their position that the competition for chief architect of the Sofia Municipality was rigged. Arch. Bogdana Panayotova was appointed by the mayor, but instead of a convincing professional choice, this process left behind doubts and compromised trust, “Save Sofia” indicated at the time. The formation called for a new, transparent procedure to be announced with changes to the conditions and the evaluation committee.
