Only the National Assembly can decide on the future of the equipment intended for the “Belene“ NPP, after the government abandoned its sale to Ukraine.
This was stated by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov in Burgas, where he attended the official ceremony marking the completion of the “REBIRTH28“ project for the construction of a new deep-water berth at the “Zapad“ terminal, “BMF Port Burgas“.
Zhelyazkov specified that it is expected that a report from the Minister of Energy will soon be submitted to the parliament with a proposal on whether to extend the mandate for negotiations with the Ukrainian side or to seek another opportunity for the realization of the equipment.
On the topic of funds under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, there is a chance that the second tranche of financing will be received by the end of the year. “Deputy Prime Minister Donchev clearly explained the approach and projects. Everything depends on legislative changes, but the parliament is working actively“, said the representative of the executive branch, expressing optimism for favorable developments.
