Three consecutive earthquakes with magnitudes from 5.5 to 6.2 on the Richter scale were recorded in Western Turkey, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported, quoted by Focus.
The latest earthquake had a depth of 13 kilometers and was located 22 km south of Bahçelievler and 14 km south of Esenyurt - areas near the metropolis of Istanbul.
Earlier in the day, two more earthquakes were reported: one with a magnitude of 5.9 on the Richter scale in Turkey, and the other with a magnitude of 5.0 - in the region between Greece and Bulgaria.
There is currently no information about victims or serious damage, but the tremors have caused concern among residents of the affected areas.
