We express our deepest sympathy and condolences to all Catholics, to all believers, to all who lost their father and spiritual father. Pope Francis was a person who will be remembered for his kindness, his closeness to people, his immediacy. This is what made him so special and unique. This was stated in "Wake Up" by Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev, who is part of the Bulgarian delegation that will attend the funeral of the Holy Father in Rome.
In his words, what the world will miss after the death of Francis will be humility and the message of peace. "The message of understanding will be missed. That in the end - we are all equal before God", he emphasized.
Georgiev recalled his meeting with the Pope during an audience on the occasion of May 24. "He was an extremely warm person. A person who immediately created a feeling of peace. His outstretched hand was not only a gesture towards Bulgaria. He also carried the omophorion, which was presented to him by our delegation during his last appearance", emphasized Georgiev.
And he recalled that the mortal remains of Pope Francis will find their eternal home in "Santa Maria Maggiore. This is the church in which the alphabet of the holy brothers Cyril and Methodius was consecrated in the 9th century. "So as Bulgarians we can find many symbols, many messages, and this visit that he made to our Catholic community - left a very deep mark in our memory, but also in the souls of all who were able to meet him then", added our Foreign Minister.
