A serious accident in Krichim on Saturday night. A driver swept five cars and a pole after flying at high speed and not stopping at a “Stop” sign. The first collision was captured by video surveillance in the area. Other footage shows the material damage caused to the other cars parked in the area. The driver who caused the accident initially left the scene of the accident, Nova TV reports.
An 18-year-old young man was injured, who has multiple bruises and is under medical observation. His car was hit from the side. There was also a girl with the boy. Evelina Atanasova, the boy's mother, reported the case on social networks.
There is also damage to two cars belonging to the Bogdanov family. “Our son is home. After 10-15 minutes he came and woke us up. He said that our cars parked in front of the house had been hit,” said Vasilka Bogdanova.
"We went out, people had gathered. The car was abandoned, with open airbags, with leaking fluids. We saw that at first glance", Bogdanova said. According to her, the guilty car has an English registration.
"It comes from a road without priority, it doesn't stop. The videos show that it is moving at over 100 km/h. It hits the children, their car hits a pole, the pole shakes, the wires reach almost to the ground and it becomes like lightning. It cut off the electricity to the entire neighborhood", Bogdanova said.
"The guilty car stops and everyone in it runs away. There were at least 4-5 people. Later it was found out that there were minors. The driver was not identified until the morning,” Bogdanova said.
According to her, the driver tried to shift the blame to another boy. In the morning, the driver confessed to the police.
„The warranty period of the road expires on September 2. We have invested money for it in the Krichim Traffic Safety Plan. We have invested funds to install artificial bumps to limit the speed on “Ivan Asen” Street. If necessary, we will install an additional camera,” said Mayor Atanas Kalchev.
There is a pre-trial investigation, the driver has been detained.
