Yesterday, in the heart of American democracy - the Congress building, a meeting was held between a Bulgarian delegation and Republican MP Keith Self - Vice Chairman of the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee and Chairman of the Subcommittee on European Affairs.
On the Bulgarian side, the meeting was attended by Stanislav Stoyanov - Chairman of the European party "Europe of Sovereign Nations" and European Member of Parliament, Petar Petrov - Vice Chairman of "Vazrazhdane" and Member of Parliament, as well as Kliment Shopov - Member of Parliament from "Vazrazhdane".
Key issues affecting the financial stability and democratic future of Bulgaria were discussed during the meeting. The delegation emphasized the advantages of preserving the Bulgarian lev and the current currency board and proposed replacing the euro with the US dollar as the reserve currency in the currency board and the Bulgarian National Bank - a move that would strengthen the country's financial independence and deepen strategic ties with the United States.
Also raised were disturbing questions about the state of democracy and the rule of law in Bulgaria and the referendum on preserving the lev that the “Vazrazhdane” party is insisting on being held, which the Bulgarian authorities did not allow. Republican Representative Self expressed strong interest in the topics raised and undertook to study them in detail, stating that he would inform his colleagues on the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Congress about this.
The meeting gave a clear signal - there is international attention to the issues raised by “Vazrazhdane” topics in search of potential support for Bulgaria's efforts to maintain its financial stability, sovereignty and democratic path. For more and more Bulgarians, the hope for a strong and independent Bulgaria is not just a dream, but a realistic cause. “Vazrazhdane” continues its interaction with the Republican Party and institutions in the US, with more events on this topic to come.
