The sanctions package allows for an exemption for the sale of shares in the company that owns Helsinki Hall. “The exclusion clause will come into effect tomorrow“, the statement said.
On November 12, Finnish media reported that the Helsinki Hall arena, owned by Russians, is to be sold to Finnish investors, the Trevian company. It was clarified that the deal, however, must be approved by the EU and Finnish authorities.
Helsinki Hall was opened in April 1997. The building can be transformed to host various events. Its total capacity during hockey matches is 13,349 people, during concerts - 15,000. The Russian owners purchased the complex from Finnish businessman Harri Harkimo in 2013.
