The increase in the price of housing and houses is a fact not only in Bulgaria, but also in neighboring Greece. However, the number of purchases, both in our country and in our southern neighbor, continues its upward trend.
What Bulgarians buy in Northern Greece are mainly quality properties in the construction stage. It is an advantage if they are located in a gated complex with live security.
From 2017 to today, property prices in Greece have increased by an average of 85%, according to local analysts. In Athens, the average price per square meter of residential area already exceeds 4,000 EUR, and in Petra - 3,000 EUR. A house with a price of around 250,000 EUR manages to sell literally in days, brokers comment. When renovation is necessary, most buyers use state aid for energy efficiency.
Foreigners from Greece's neighboring countries, including Bulgarians, are looking for houses along the coast in the region of Halkidiki and Kavala. Our citizens who have more funds buy ready-made 2-story houses with a sea view at prices of around 1 million EUR. Others buy small apartments that they actively use in the summer for vacation or for the weekend. Here prices start at 2000 EUR/sq m. The third group are people with limited opportunities. They are oriented towards small plots of land on which they place prefabricated houses.
