Real estate brokers report a significant growth in apartment transactions in the first two months of the current year. Traditionally, the beginning of the year is the period with the fewest transactions, but this year is an exception, intermediaries are categorical.
The data of the Bulgarian National Bank are proof of this. They show that for the first two months of the current year, a growth of 29% in newly issued housing loans was reported. Thus, on an annual basis, they reached 26.473 billion leva, as of the end of February.
For comparison, housing loans at the end of this January amounted to 26.044 billion leva, and by the end of February 2024 the amount reached 20.520 billion leva, or about 6 billion leva. lower value compared to the current result.
We can expect to see a decrease in the number of mortgage loans granted if interest rates on this type of loan increase. However, there are no factors for this to happen, according to banking specialists.
Real estate agents are convinced that a large number of transactions in the market are due to the "entry into the eurozone" factor. Although there is objectively no reason for this factor to affect the market, it is happening.
